so after touch, ja and i went for our lunch 'date' at amk hub. as usual, she kindly agreed to eat mos burger with me. thanks ja! lubs you for it. heh. hi! my name is chelsea and i have a mos burger addiction. *cue applause from fellow addicts* like she said, so easy to satisfy you, just buy you mos burger. hahahahah. bought 2 dvds from some shop.
to be honest, my movie taste can range from a certain level of cheesiness to blood and gore. of cos, i'm also a sucker for martial arts type films. in fact, if a movie has any semblance of a decent fight scene, i'm so watching it. heh. so yes, i've succumbed to temptation once again and have bought Wushu (produced by jackie chan, starrring sammo hung and several chinese wushu experts) and Beast Stalker (directed by Dante Lam, starring Nicholas Tse and Nick Cheung). i really liked Beast Stalker.
the premise of the film was an uptight cop (Tse) and his second in command chasing after the villian, Cheung Yat-Tung of the show, and then getting involved in a awesome-riffic car crash that results in Cheung going into a coma, an innocent little girl dead (due to Tse shooting at the getaway car without realising that she was in the boot), Tse and his second in command being injured. Cheung was going to be indicted for his role in the armed robbery leading to the massive car crash, and has instructed his men to abduct the prosecuter's daughter (the remaining twin whose sister was accidentally killed in the line of fire by Tse) to force the prosecuter to tamper with the evidence, bring the case to Cheung's favour. Meanwhile, Tse is racked with guilt and becomes some sort of 'guardian angel' over the other twin. this twin is kidnapped by Nick Chueng, who is in dire straits due to an accident , which also made his wife paralysed. then, the chase is on.
what's amazing about this film is that the director ties in all the subsequent events with this one big event that had happened several months before, i.e. the massive car crash. later in the show, we find out how the little girl ended up in the boot of the getaway car, and what caused the massive car crash. so essentially, Tse, Cheung, the prosecuter and Nick Cheung were all involved in that same crash that alter their lives, and made them ALL interconnected in the long chain of events. i think the director really cleverly tied all the loose ends up with an event that happened right in the beginning of the show. i also particularly liked Nick Cheung in this film, because he plays a baddie who's not really that evil at all. he is just forced by circumstances to have to resort to drastic measures (i.e. taking up contract killing and kidnapping) in order to pay for his and his wife's medical expenses. he had a human side to his cold-blooded killer persona. Nicholas Tse acted pretty well, but he didn't impress me that much till the last part of the show, where you could see that he has lost his will to become a cop or even live, until he found out about the little girl's twin sister. and that gave him to motivation to move on. his crying was pretty realistic and actually pretty touching.
thought that the old man won't know how to appreciate the show, but he found it interesting and exciting. i may have underestimated him. heh. sorry old man. :) it's good to be able to sit down with him and relax after a few weeks of hard partying, and by that i don't mean real partying. heh.
one more thing that i had forgotten to post about, i was really glad that YOU helped out so much on friday. thank you. i know you said you didn't want to help in teletubby and all, but that's really part of your job as well since you are in the technical dept. and i want to commend you for being so willing and on the ball when i called back requesting for a couple of things. i just wanted you to know that you are being appreciated even when it seems like no one cares, or that others may be biased towards you. you really must keep your head up and keep improving. you must keep proving to those that you are able to work and justify your position. :) so thank you once again for helping me. really.
